Cliff Richard said the 59 Bird was the finest car he ever drove. Now for my opinion! I have driven and fought to control this vehicle for 8 years now! I've not driven it for several months with all the other 'new' cars, and drove it again seriously this week and had to relearn how to drive it. What I had forgotten was that it wants to go where IT wants to go and NOT where I want it to go! It's like driving a power boat, swaying over the waves and lurching onto the wrong side of the road given half a chance. With it's roaring kick-down and wheel-spins on bends when you give it a little too much gas, you get out of the car with a big sigh of relief and a terrific endorphin hit! A real stunt drivers' car...it's heavy, fast, unpredictable, won't stop, smokey, loud -ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! The only car ever to scare the cr*p out of John, my mechanic, when he first drove it. She's a real handful...and that is why it is the finest car Cliff Richard and I ever drove! What a buzz! |
Mr T (the Yank- Smokin' Joe) Malcolm Bishop, Spurr Cars, "The design is sheer poetry". Powered by the Ford 352 cub ins big block 'Interseptor' V8. The 5.738 litre engine takes it to 60 in 9 seconds. Raw in your face power. One of Ford's greats! |
