Steve: I was driving through Key West in late 2012 and thinking about which ‘American Classic’ car I would buy next given that most of what they offer was reflected in some way in the 8 I already had, when a big GMC 1600 truck came throbbing past with its big V8 and exhausts, I thought lets go for a truck. Once back I started looking through trucks and decided the GMC 77 was really nice, with its Chevelle base and flat bed, so in early 2013 I bought it. |
Once I’d acquired it I e-mailed pictures of it to Malcolm Bishop, Spurr Cars, and his response was "That’s the Red Baron, what a lovely truck with its stacked headlights, its waterfall grill and SS logo on the side, that stands for Super Steve”. Thanks Malcolm I asked him what figure popped into his head when he saw it and he said “£10,000”. When I told him I got it for £5,000, his response was “What an uplifting story, it really makes your day to hear something like that”. All thanks to Ken at bigostreetrods.com, a nice man who sold me a nice car at a nice price. |
